I think a better way to word my question would have been to ask if the government should have the authority to have carte blanche approval on all freedoms concerning the internet?

Should we abandon the privilege of free speech to protect the children, or should parents take the responsibility of raising their children and protect them against promiscuity on the internet?

Don't parents still have an obligation and culpability for their children and their future? Why is it up to the government to make the whole internet bound to the ethical standards that our elected officials won't live by?
