Why was breaking the line that nerve wracking? I don't have a frame of reference.

Twice while I used to repair car radiators, someone accidentally exploded a gas tank that they were repairing... I guess the only comparable noise would be a first class bomb blast... BLAM!! On one of the occasions, the guy that blew up the tank was working about 15 feet to one side of me. The gas tank hit the ceiling 20 feet over our heads... put a big dent in the ceiling before crashing to the shop floor. The thing was split wide open like a giant clamshell... The guy that blew up the tank was left standing there with his torch still burning away... mouth open... totally stunned. I had to go over and shut off his torch and give him a bit of a shake... I think my ears rang for at least a day afterwards... I didn't work around that guy anymore after that... He was too careless. When you're repairing gas tanks, careless = dead...
