Charles - that's what I would have thought. The problem with new chips is usually the other way - process refinement is needed to get the median up so that yields are where they need to be. If true, a higher median speed for SparcIII would mean that they could support early production at their current design speed and also bring out a faster clock product out of the same batch. This would also mean yields would be high.

In any event it hardly seems like a "problem". Certainly not one which would delay products in the pipeline.
