According to the article, these new Xeons have the 1 - 2 MB cache on the same die as the processor (offering 1 or 2 Megabytes (MB) of "on-die" level-two (L2) cache. ) I think this was first done by Intel in making chips for HP, which also had a meg or 2 on die. Paul talked about this. I see Intel is not upstaging Itanium in clock frequency, by introducing the new Xeons at 700 MHz.
