Fair enough John, if you think it is unlikely that I know something due to some theory you have about me - then discount it as much as you see fit.

But if you think that I am spreading bad information, then debate me about the information - don't just say I don't know what I know.

I may not believe you or Jim about something you say is true, but I'd never say (publicly anyway) that your stupid or an idiot - or that you don't know what your talking about. I'd just tell you why you're wrong.

Now tell me, why am I wrong? Am I wrong just because it disputes a firmly held belief (or wish) that you have??

Just for kicks, I priced out identical systems from gateway: one with PC-800 rambus, one with PC-100 SDRAM.

E4400-800, 800MHz P3, 133MHz FSB, 128MB Rambus PC-800: $2529
E4200-800, 800MHz P3, 100MHz FSB, 128MB SD-100: $2449

A difference of $80. Sorry I can't provide links, the gateway pages don't let you do that. But you can go and punch one up for yourself and see...

Sounds on target with the price differences that we've seen from Dell. At an $80 price difference, I don't see price as a big stumbling block for rambus anymore. Now we just need volume.
