Goutama: <<Another setback for Intel is the Timna, which was vaunted as a highly integrated
processor. The chip was designed for the expensive Rambus memory, but
because of the continuing shortage of Rambus DRAM, Intel is coupling the
Timna processor with a device to make it compatible with SDRAM. The device is
similar to the memory translator hub on the 820-based motherboards that Intel
was recently forced to recall. The new configuration makes the integrated
processor no different from a three-chip solution available today.
