You know who they are, don't you?

Yes I do - they're the geniuses behind Long Term Capital Management.

With regard to risk - in this market, unless you are relying on momentum investing, I believe it is not a good use of time to discuss investments in individual securities in isolation. As Robert posted here recently, asset allocation is key. So when one rights "I bought XXX at YYY price", it's not of much value - because you have no idea what that individual has in their portfolio or what percentage of their portfolio has been allocated to stock XXX.

It just seems to me that if we really wanted to have a worthwhile discussion on investing in this market, we would be more focused on asset allocation - and discuss individual stocks within the context of asset groups.

Otherwise, isn't this just the momentum discussion taking place all over again?

-Eric

<One more thing about risk - I think it's impossible to measure or assess accurately. >

We can theorize absolutes here, or we can attempt to mitigate them in the real world. That is what I'm talking about. Asset allocation.
