Here is a Nifty little Dow Chart showing a pretty rare
diamond formation

geocities.com

Diamond tend to be high volume patterns, with lots of
back and forth energy.

They often reside at major tops but they can also be
consolidation patterns. Page 183 of one of the more recent
editions of Edwards and MaGee shows a diamond that was
a sideways consolidation and lead to a new high.

The Key point I can make is that they are not universally and only found at Major tops.
