AltaVista Co., a unit of CMGI Inc. that operates a popular search engine, postponed its IPO until September or October, when the company expects to be closer to profitability interactive.wsj.com A scheme in the works??? I think CMGI will continue to decrease Altavista's headcount to give the appearance that the company will become profitable. They may get expenses down for a couple of quarters, but I doubt they will do it for longer than that.
