So would it have been any better to say something like: "The newscast looks like it was produced in the Chinese guy's basement." (if he were Chinese) Or: "The newscast looks like it was produced in the African guy's basement." (if he were African), and so on and so on. I don't think there is any need to talk like that on public bulletin boards, or even in private life for that matter. It was a low blow by you in my opinion, and the "referee" should make you forfeit a round, if you catch my drift.
As for the Star Trek trivia, I was around to watch it "live" back then (the 1967, 68 & 69 episodes), and believe me, it was ahead of it's time, but of course, far from perfect like so many things in this life are at any one time or place..... Yogi
