Petz <Goutama, I'm pi$$ed at AMD's portrayal of the Comm division sale. Why not just say they wanted the cash to invest in more profitable and rapidly expanding businesses like flash and CPU's?

Instead they give this song and dance about "having to sell" because Intel is an 800 # gorilla. Really bad PR. And the price they are getting is not low at all when you consider that its only half of the Comm division. What did I read? That division only has 160 employees and their getting over $350 million for it?>

This was a PR faux pas. In many ways, AMD has a lot of room for improvement (like managing the street). At least they've improved where it counts long term, but it would help us investors if they also mastered the short term moves. It also re-affirms to me that many are just looking for AMD to screw-up.

John, Goutama, I'm pi$$ed at AMD's portrayal of the Comm division sale.

Have been busy all day and have not read the reaction of the thread, but I agree completely. Lousy presentation and a shocker. Last word on this was during the CC and I distinctly remember Sanders saying that he no longer thought the sale necessary. I took it to mean that the sale was off.

That said, today was a very good buying opportunity. If I had been able to trade, I would have added considerably to my position, which has a disproportionate AMD slant already (a financial advisor would think I'm bats!).
