Actually Dale, it is both. LEAPS are LT instruments that get taxed at LT rates if you hold them the over 1 year.

As well, the only other case is when you change the basis of a LT stock position with a ST call as you "get called" and sell the stock. You get a little kicker on that one (for free).

I'm sorry, but I do not agree with you. LEAPS are LTB&H, imho.

I am not a daytrader, and long term options are a significant part of my LTB&H strategy.
