Hi pompsander; Re Intel's Heimlich maneuver. The Solano is the first part of this. Tom's got one and likes it:

Intel's a big boy, they're not going to get killed by Rambus. But they are going to eventually get the thing out of their throat. Until then, like the diner with a piece of food that went down the windpipe, they are going to try to avoid making a scene, and will walk calmly towards the bathroom. Certainly they won't be willing to admit that they have a problem until they have the solution for it. In the end, Intel will be okay, but Rambus will be left in the toilet.

The chip industry moves very slowly, with designs taking years to get to market, sometimes. Investors tend to want immediate action, they don't want to watch the slow grind of technology.

By the way, I thought RMBS looked very strong today. I wonder what Zeev thinks? I think this is a good time for a short term trading buy, and I bet we see $190 within a week. The 2-month downtrend still seems well established, though, unless we break $210 or so.

Don't be too excited about Gateway (PC600/PC700) or any of the other boxes that are available. These chips need to be dumped before the 815, or they'll never get rid of them.
