PacketVideo develops MPEG-4 compliant software that enables the delivery, management, and viewing of full-motion video and audio over wireless networks on mobile information devices including Internet enabled cellular telephones, handheld devices, wireless personal digital assistants and lap top computers. The 911 Consulting team will focus on optimizing PacketVideo's software for use with low-power mobile information devices including smart phones and wireless personal digital assistants. The team will remain based in Hoffman Estates, a northwestern suburb of Chicago, and form the nucleus of the newly established PacketVideo DSP Lab.
The newly hired engineering team brings a combined total of over 50 years of DSP and communications experience, including seven issued patents and previous employment with industry leaders such as Motorola, 3Com/US Robotics, Cadence, Dukane, and Dialogic. The 911 Consulting team specializes in DSP algorithm development, system implementation, and code conversion between DSP processors of different manufacturers or models. 911 consulting was a member of Texas Instruments DSP Third Party Network, the industry's largest network of third party solutions providers developing thousands of products.
"As a member of TI's world-leading DSP third party network, 911 Consulting has demonstrated the ability to support innovative DSP software and application development," said Mike Walker, director of TI's Wireless Applications. "Having recently announced a collaboration with PacketVideo to deliver streaming media support on TI's DSP-based Open Multimedia Application Platform, we are pleased that 911 Consulting is joining PacketVideo. 911's programmable DSP experience truly complements the PacketVideo team and we look forward to seeing how this will help achieve its long-term objectives."

PacketVideo's MPEG-4 compliant software is operating system, platform, and air interface independent. Its error-resilient technology recognizes and conceals errors inherent in wireless networks, enabling mobile information devices to receive enhanced video image quality on wireless networks with bit rates as low as 14.4 kbps as well as 2.5G and 3G networks. PacketVideo is working with network infrastructure providers, wireless carriers, handheld device and silicon designers and manufacturers, and content providers to enable the roll-out of wireless multimedia services. PacketVideo's solution provides mobile users access to full-motion news and financial stories, sports highlights, short entertainment clips and music videos, weather and traffic reports, home or work security cameras, and corporate communications, from any location.
