lol- how do you know I have a troubled soul?

Heehee
Oh egocentric one- you are the one who came here to talk about atheists and foxholes.

You have seen evidence I would not see- of that I am positive. People all over the globe find evidence to justify themselves in their Gods- whatever those Gods may be. The fact that YOU can find evidence for your own beliefs doesn't really surprise me. I would guess you can see signs and portents in all kinds of things- that is a way a lot of people go. And if you think I'm angry you are way off base. I am afraid of true believers- but only the ones who represent a danger to others. I have no way to know if you are that kind of true believer or not- and unlike you I don't need to judge you, because I don't KNOW you. I don't KNOW if you foist your religion on others. How could I know that?

As for your comments about goodness- well, again you are WAY off base. What I know about goodness is my internalized empathy compass- based on ALL my experience WITH OTHER PEOPLE LIVING IN SOCIETY (that saves me from thinking wrong is right in case I am around "bad" people who tell me wrong is right). If you do not have such an internal compass and need an external guide- I can't really relate. I know what "good" and "bad" behavior are and I am able to judge my own conduct. I think sociopaths are the only people completely unable to do that. Are you one of them?

And as I made clear, it's all just MY opinion. I'm not elaborating some opinion of God, or trying to read the mind of God, or trying to tell you what I think God might be trying to tell me if he WAS trying to tell me something.

I am always where I should be with what I should have where ever I am. So don't go worrying about MY troubled soul. Maybe you are projecting your own troubled soul onto my peaceful and happy one? JUST a thought.

H~
If you know you are good, without confirmation from those around you, you are professing the height of egotism
I would disagree with this. Looking for confirmation of oneself from without strikes me as extremely unreliable. The images people reflect of you are so often distorted by how well you have met their needs, not by who you really are.
What I hear from X is that she knows who she is, is confident in her sense of herself and has no need for praise from without. To me this indicates not egotism, (an inflated sense of her own importance to anyone but herself) or egoism, (concern only with her own self-interests) but a healthy ego that is comfortable with her own beliefs.
Interestingly, this really seems to upset some people, who find her self-assurance threatening in some way.

Haqi, I have seen traces of why X might feel that if there is a God of any sort, He or She will understand X and her life has been one of dealing with "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune."

Why should she care about what others around her think? If she lives her life with goodness and even heroism that may not be evident to others, of what use or value is their judgement?

None of us knows what is in the mind of God, if there is a God. We try to live our lives as best we possibly can, dealing with the cards that are dealt us. Angels can do no more.
