I think what folks tend to discount is the supply demand issue. That is there is more money in the market than companies can reasonably handle from an investment perspective. Kinda like a house in the bay area. If there is only 10 houses on the market and 100 prospects the houses will likely sell for more than they are worth.

The market has more investors than ever before. I heard that more than 40% of american citizens invest now. What was it in 1990 1994, or even 1997. I think the money coming in the market has steadily increased over time. Mutual fund managers/401K managers have to invest this stuff.... and you can bet they'll be laying their bets before year end - for SURE! So, bubble... perhaps... but what are the reasons?

Now, that all said... PE's are high... but it's my position that they are going to be higher and the really good companies are going to have relatively higher PE's than not so good companies. And really good companies in really good sectors are going to have PE's... of ..... well... 80 or 100. The money has to go somewhere - right? Or are T-bills a better bet? Yes, it's a pyramid scheme... a house of cards.. call it what you want... I call it supply and demand.
