They aren't exactly gone, but they no longer exist as a distinct culture. You still find little clusters living on the edge of the jungle; they hunt and gather, but they are no longer nomads, and they also plant crops. Great guides in the jungle. It would have been interesting to know them as they once were: until the '50s and '60s there were still groups that had only peripheral contact with the outside world.
