Re: Tomorrow I think I'll fork out for a new monitor. Any ideas?

Jim,

Check this out:

monitoronsale.com

I bought one of these a few months ago, one of the best purchases I've ever made. When I started my job at IBM and got a 20 inch monitor, I couldn't deal with my tiny home monitor any more. This is the same one I have at work, very quality and very cheap.

Jim,

What should I test?

If you want to give your CPU a good workout, you can try Seti. See how long it takes to process a unit on average. Another thing that I found to be very CPU demanding is to rip CDs using variable bit stream compression. Media JukeBox is a good tool for this: musicex.com

Jim: RE<Tomorrow I think I'll fork out for a new monitor>

Mitsubishi DiamondPro 900U (19") with natural flat CRT. Has USB hub built-in with two upstream ports. Also has RGB input additional to the standard 15 pin with a switch in the front. Actually you can use it as a KVM switch if you use USB mouses and keyboards. I got it from ecost.com for $531 including S$H. That's the next best thing to a 18" LCD, IMHO.
