mozek,

If I didn't make myself clear, I will do so now. I am
speaking specifically of the Windows legacy desktop
systems, of which there are 10's of millions in existence.
You and I both know that they are not secure desktop
systems.

M$FT has done absolutely nothing to improve the security
of these systems. Putting out bulletins about viruses
and recommending that users "be careful" about what they
open doesn't cut it. Cyber-terrorism works because it
breeds FEAR and users are not going to use the internet
to buy things or store things if they are afraid of
break-ins.

The figures I'm using came from an article I read
yesterday. I'll try to unearth it for you. It stated
that Windows O/S's had 45,000 viruses infect them while
MAC/OS had only 15, and Unix systems 4 or 5.

The internet economy is not going to flourish if M$FT
decides to bind its customers to an unsecured O/S then
tries to pass the buck on security flaws. It's just
giving the whole industry a black eye and it needs to
stop.

Since M$FT mgmt never does anything wrong, I don't expect
any action from them. It'll have to come from the outside
somehow. My suggestion of a buyout, I think is a good one.

Mozek, I'm not trying to insult anyone, so I hope it
doesn't come across that way.

cheers,
