Chic,

Most modern psychological research has indicated that we are driven largely by brain chemistry. Who do twins separated at birth share so many common characteristics?

Every body does the best they can with their God given faculties, and the information they have been provided in life. As a parent, I see my responsibility is to provide my children with the correct information about food, life, and their spiritual and physical relationships.

Everything good and bad that has happened in my life, came as a complete surprise.

Chic,

Will power has everything to do with it. The problem is many people are looking for an excuse.

It is not that simple. I come from a long line of non-alcoholics, and I have no desire for alcohol. In my job, I spend a lot of time entertaining. I frequently drink in that capacity, but I have no need for alcohol.

Apparently, your family has genes which make you react differently to alcohol. It is a burden which you have to live with, though it is not your's (or anyone elses) fault.

OT

By any definition, I'm overwieght by 20-40 pounds right now, but you won't see me making excuses. I deserve it, I've become lazy and just plain haven't given a shit over the past year. Recently, I have decided to care and am getting things in order. Hopefully, by the time we all meet, I will be in shape and at an ideal weight. If not, it's my own fault for being lazy and having no self control

chic,

No one deserves to be overweight, no one deserves to be a drug addict or an alchoholic, no one deserves to have bad things of this nature befall them. It seems to me that so long as you punish yourself, you will not gain control over your life. A better approach...a more positive approach is that you want the very best for your life. That means being healthy, being thinner, doing less drinking.

We talk about paradigm shifts on the thread, well that would be a big one for you I think.
