"If a Republican had of been in the White House during the last 8 years"

The health care reform act would not have been passed and the family law act would not have been passed.

The health care act forces insurance providers to offer health care to startups (instead of only big companies where the pot of gold is). The family law act allows an administrative assistance, who has no benefits, the ability to take more than two weeks off after having a child. I know someone who had to go back to work after 2 weeks after having a child by c-section because company benefits gave only 2 vacation weeks off per year and having a c-section & having a child didn't legally constitute sick time off. On the third week, her insides started coming out, because the body wasn't meant to be treated so horribly like this. Thank goodness the Democrats finally got control of Congress so they were finally able to pass the family act law, so women can now get more than 2 weeks off after having a child. The Republicans were very much against this law and I'll never forget when I heard President Bush say that this law was not needed because women shouldn't be working. I'll never forget that as long as I live. When folks fresh out of school hear how things were back in the "old days of the 90's" it just blows them away. It's really great to see their reaction. Fortunately, my career started at Microsoft so I never experienced any negative attitudes against women since Microsoft was definitely one of the best companies for women to work.

The Democrats have significantly helped startups (owned by men or women) and working women. The Republicans were really a pain during the early 90's for any working women, or for any startup. The Republicans kept blocking some extremely important laws which benefited working women and startups (started by men or women). The only laws they seemed to pass were the ones that benefited the F500s. The Democrats did a great job at changing laws which significantly helped startups which have fueled this great economy.

Amy J PS I'm not saying I'm a Democrat or Republican. I am only stating a comment on a factual piece of information related to how the Republicans blocked legislation which would have benefited working women and startups (started by men or women) and how the Democrats created some extremely critical laws which were necessary for the successful proliferation of startups.

Dear Scumbria:

The forgiving of his blatant mistakes, failings, and irresponsibilities by Democrats are getting hard to take. You just do not want to say you were wrong in electing him over some other Democrats who would have done better in 1992.

Face it. He will be seen by history as a bad president.

Pete

Scumbria: No, it wouldn't. It would be called "the decade of greed", with people being "left behind" and "losing ground", etc.
