OT: Access Investing

"By the way, you sure are becoming famous with all your posts getting spotlighted by SI."

Robert- I didn't even know this was happening. I rarely visit the home page. Only when someone points it out, do I pay a visit....oh yes. I see my xMDS post highlighted. Thanks very much for mentioning it. That post is a good roll-up of how this particular broadband access technology may be right on the cusp of being rolled out in mass.

I'm hoping all the work I've put into the Access portion(as opposed to Metro and Core) of the telecom network, is going to really pay off in spite of the Nasdaq turmoil. From all my indications(top line growth of players in the sector), it sure looks like 2000 is going to be a watershed year for Service Provider spending in the Access space.

Access is still the dinosaur of the telecom network. Parts of it are literally 100 years old. All this talk of fiberless optics, solitons, pure-optical switches, etc. make me chuckle when I think how ancient the Access portion of the network is. So that's why I feel there is quite a bit of money to be made by investing in it's upgrade.

One of my holdings, who recently reported, ADC Communications(sym:ADCT) is a good indicator. As a company it's quite hard to understand because it's involved in all Access technologies. But their CC is worth a listen so an investor can get an idea of what is happening in the Access space. Not that I'm recommending it as an investment. But just as a tool to get an idea of where access spending is heading. Thanks. -MikeM(From Florida)
