I know you are teasing, so no worries there.

If you think about it, one of the functions of wine is to relax and brake the ice amongst the "comensales".

It is true that as one ages, the ability to drink wine changes substantially, I remember in younger days, I had a friend from Switzerland who loved to do "parrilladas" (bbq meat very much in the Argentinean style), with gallons of good red wines. Those parties were a lot of fun, lots of friends, food and wine.

We all felt like a Vikings celebrating some victory in battle, today I simply could not get to that level of consumption, both in food and wine. (Mind you I was NEVER drunk).

In spite of all that, I am perfectly healthy, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, etc. etc. etc.

There are ways to do the mellow, family thing and enjoy life that don't involve late meals with good food and wine. And some of them can actually be practiced in daylight. :)

I am sure of that, the important thing is to do it.
