Robert,

Thanks for the Bear Stearns comments. It will be nice when the market gets back to trading on company information instead of sentiment and interest rate fears.

re: Recent checks with industry sources lead us to the conclusion that
the company is achieving higher than expected functional and speed yields on its Willamette microprocessor, giving Intel the confidence to
launch Willamette in both the high end and mid-range desktop PC segments.

I like the sound of that. Successful launch of Willy & Itanium will more than make-up for the recent mis-cues of the past year.

RE:"Recent checks with industry sources lead us to the conclusion that the company is achieving higher than expected functional and speed yields on its Willamette microprocessor, giving Intel the confidence to launch Willamette in both the high end and mid-range desktop PC segments."

Willy must be in production now. I hear they can release it anytime they want but don't want to right now because it might draw the ire of Janet Reno and the D O J.

OTOH,

RE:". Intel appears to be in excellent competitive shape, having weathered a significant challenge from the Athlon processor without sparking a major price war or sacrificing appreciable market share."

No need then for Intel to worry about the next wave of Athlons coming next month. Duron and Thunderbird. Something will likely delay them. Yields will be bad, no motherboards...something...
