Planet Tivoli North America features a live installation of a multi-vendor SAN called "SAN City." Running on a variety of e-business enabling applications, "SAN City" showcases Tivoli management software, the IBM "Shark" Enterprise Storage Server and products from nine other Tivoli storage partners including Ancor, Brocade, Crossroads Systems, EMC, Gadzoox, McData, Pathlight, StorageTek and Vixel.

Announcement Highlights
-- Tivoli Storage Manager 4.1, a new version of the Tivoli
award-winning end-to-end storage management solution that
enables users to offload large volumes of business-critical
data from a LAN. New or enhanced product features include
automated network backup, tape resource sharing, network-free
rapid data recovery, LAN-free and multi-threaded data
transfer, adaptive differencing technology and integration
with EMC TimeFinder(tm).
-- A SAN Extension toolkit for Tivoli NetView, which allows
Tivoli NetView users to centrally manage SANs, LANs and WANs
from a single console. As a result, systems administrators can
streamline management of network devices including routers, hubs, switches, PCs, workstations, laptops and SAN hardware
devices all from one open systems environment.
-- A partnership between Tivoli and EMC Corporation, in which the
two companies will work together to integrate Tivoli Storage
Manager with EMC's Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems and
software including EMC TimeFinder. Customers will then have
automated online information backup, restoration and
management capabilities for enterprise information.
-- A partnership between Compaq and Tivoli, allowing Compaq
Services to sell, support and outsource Tivoli Enterprise(tm) technology management solutions and train more than 300
consultants in Compaq's Professional Services organization on
Tivoli products.
-- 2ndWAVE, Inc. will be the first Application Service Provider
(ASP) to deliver full functionality to Tivoli enterprise
management, network management, storage management and help
desk management products over the Internet via the ASP model.
-- Crossroads Systems has combined Tivoli Storage Manager with
its Fibre Channel storage router to perform server-free data
backup and restoration across a storage area network (SAN.) By
using server-free backup, customers realize enhanced backup
performance by freeing server and LAN cycles for other
business computing tasks.
