Another new name. I guess jumping on the dot com bandwagon didn't serve them very well. I guess this new name makes much better sense. Must be an expensive exercise for small companies to change their names so much.

BusinessWire, Thursday, June 08, 2000 at 07:33

SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 2000-- AlphaServ.com(TM)(NASDAQ:ALMI) Thursday announced its intention to change its name to "NQL Inc." as it moves to become a premier provider of Internet software solutions to the global market.

Shareholders will be asked to approve the name change at the company's annual meeting on Aug. 9, 2000 in Santa Ana. As a separate item, shareholders will also be asked to approve a change in the company's state of incorporation from California to Delaware.

"The adoption and usage of the NQL name demonstrates the company's commitment to our new strategic focus as a business-to-business infrastructure company. NQL Enterprise Server Edition Now Available; Provides Shortcut to E-Commerce Applications Using SOAP and OFX
June 15, 2000 07:44 AM Eastern Time
SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 2000--

Intelligent Agent and Content Management Development Platform Targets Large Corporations with Query and Financial Transaction Capabilities

The NQL Solutions(TM) division of AlphaServ.com(TM) ALMI Thursday announced the launch of the Beta test period for the Enterprise Edition of their Network Query Language(TM) (NQL(TM)) with new features to support large-scale e-commerce application development.

The NQL Enterprise Server Edition may be downloaded at no charge by end users, VARs, integrators and OEMs who wish to participate in an evaluation and feedback program, according to Denny Michael, vice president of marketing. The same process was used to test the Workstation and Server Editions; both released in April as full production versions.

"By developing an Enterprise Edition, we can now offer needed e-commerce capabilities to large corporations and financial institutions."

Functioning as an extension of an enterprise network infrastructure, NQL uses advanced technologies such as intelligent agents to scour the Internet and other networks for user-defined information with adaptive decision-making capabilities, enabled by artificial intelligence enhancements.

"Through the recent wireless enhancements to NQL, including wireless application protocol (WAP) and Palm VII support, we are moving toward a growing technology trend -- mobile or `m'-commerce," said Michael.

According to the Gartner Group, more than 1 billion mobile devices will be in use by 2003, and the Yankee Group estimates that by 2004, more than 30 percent of all wireless users will access Internet content directly from those mobile devices. Market researcher Datamonitor forecasts that consumer spending via m-commerce will be worth $16.6 billion by 2005.

Similar to the previously released Server Edition, the commerce- enabled NQL Enterprise Server Edition runs on Windows 2000 or NT platforms while providing new e-commerce related features such as Microsoft's Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) for handling information queries across different network architectures.

"SOAP is new to the industry, and developers are just now beginning to look at it," Michael said. "NQL Enterprise can substantially shorten or even eliminate the SOAP learning curve by automating its implementation to the point where a SOAP query can be written into an application with one or two lines of code."

"The intent of open Beta testing is to deliver a better engineered product with the help of developers who can expose NQL to the rigors of real-world application testing in different types of business environments and network infrastructures," Michael continued. "We anticipate and welcome suggestions for additional features and functionality to be added to the Beta version."

Michael added, "E-commerce is a natural venue for intelligent agent technology, which can supply its precise and discerning decision-making capabilities to applications that involve moving large amounts of sensitive information."

Also new to NQL is support for Open Financial Exchange (OFX) and credit card payments. OFX is an industry-standard protocol used by banks, stockbrokers and other financial institutions for conducting cross-platform monetary transactions. With credit card payment support, an NQL script can perform credit card verifications, charges and refunds.

Two major providers for the interaction between a merchant and the appropriate financial institution are already supported: CyberSource and CyberCash. NQL Solutions is currently expanding its customer service and support programs to provide additional resources required by enterprise system developers and integrators.

Getronics Licenses NQL Technology to Create Knowledge Management Solutions

BusinessWire, Thursday, August 03, 2000 at 07:44

SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 2000--

Worldwide Technology Company Using NQL Solutions' Web Content

Gathering Functionalities to Build Custom Applications

The NQL Solutions division of AlphaServ.com (Nasdaq NM: ALMI) today announced that Amsterdam-based Getronics (AEX: GTN), the world's third-largest IT solution provider with annual revenues exceeding $5 billion, has licensed NQL's core technology for the development of information management solutions.

Under the terms of the licensing agreement, Getronics' Business Solutions Group, one of Getronics' two primary service groups, is using Network Query Language (NQL) to re-engineer the company's knowledge management tools, and plans to use the patent-pending technology to capture best-practices information.

"Integrating cutting-edge technologies like NQL into our solutions is a crucial part of our plan to provide our customers with the most sophisticated e-business applications and solutions available. To that end, we have partnered with industry leaders including Cisco, Nokia, Microsoft and now NQL," said Raymond Kalustyan, Getronics' vice president, business solutions and consulting.

Kalustyan continued, "NQL's patent-pending lateral crawling approach is key to our success in re-engineering our knowledge management tools. Our engineers are already working with NQL and are excited about how easy it makes the automated retrieval and organization of Web content. Integrating this technology should strengthen our ability to capture vital information and allow us to better serve the business needs of our global clients."

Getronics boasts more than 500 $1 million-plus customer relationships, representing 60 percent of the company's revenues. Getronics customers include ABN AMRO Bank, Barclays, British Petroleum, BT, European Community, Federal Express, Fiat, France Telecom, Kmart Corporation, KLM, McDonald's, NASA, Philips, Shell, Telstra Corporation and Unilever. Getronics helps these organizations maximize the value of their technology investments by integrating a range of sophisticated technologies on a global scale.

"We believe Getronics' licensing of NQL demonstrates our ability to sell NQL to major Fortune companies. Our long-term strategy is to foster adoption of NQL throughout the various divisions of those companies," said AlphaServ.com chairman, chief executive officer and president, Douglas J. Tullio.

The agreement with Getronics is one of several international partnerships recently announced by NQL, including a deal with SiteLynx, which is using NQL for digital search and navigation marketing solutions, and major European Web portal Jubii, which uses NQL for content aggregation on its portal, serving more than 1.5 million users.

"Getronics is an established and recognized market leader. Their acceptance of NQL proves what we've always believed about NQL, that it is a powerful tool for harnessing the power of the Web and building applications with ease," said Denny Michael, NQL's vice president of marketing. "Getronics' success with NQL is a further validation of our technology and business plan. We look forward to working with Getronics to help them gain every competitive advantage NQL has to offer."
