The fuss is because many people have shifted their allocation to aggressive funds and stocks in recent times. So the average investor is probably sitting on losses far greater than the 9.5% of the Dow or the 4.7% of the S&P.

And if the market really tanks (i.e. closes below 3000 on the Naz over the long weekend), the nervous nellies will jump out. However, the big boys will try everything to ensure that doesn't happen. They want the little guys to get cooked!
