Bert. When friend of mine tell me what the extra fees they have to pay for an employee I am amazed. An employee getting $30,000 per year can often have payments to the government that are greater than his take home pay, by 50% or more.
So hey may get $18,000 of the $30,000, so $12,000 is deducted. On top of that the company has to pay another $10,000 or even more for assorted fees.
I am sorry I lack some fine detail, but a friedn who hired some people in France some years ago told me this.
The excess socialism will eventually undermine the euro and bring it to 50 cents. Protectionism will not work as the cheap ECM states will exploit the richer ones.

What is needed is a few hard facts. The scenario you describe sounds acceptable for maternity leave. What country are you in?

A lot of the troubles with german integration were due to the unions insisting on the same wages for a far less productive work force(due to old equipment) that led to many former eastern companies going broke fast.
