haqihana, I'm willing to retract re crucifixion and Roman sensibilities. But the idea of the wall of sin, breachable only by a cruel sacrifice ... I have a problem with that. I simply cannot imagine that this was the best or only way to proceed.

I don't pretend to understand all things, or even many things. But I have pondered the concept of the death of Christ in great depth. And I cannot escape the idea that there is something antihuman, antidivine, about this doctrine and its consequent doctrines (resurrection, salvation through the Cros etc.). I wish I could put my finger on it, but it is so very difficult to put these things in words.

I respect Christianity and especially Christians. But I cannot in good conscience submit to its Credo. Live and let live is how I deal with it.
