Privacy and security are separate issues.

It looks to me like the comments from your posting
allude to McNealy's comments having to do with
personal privacy, not with security. Privacy is
a great concern wrt internet commerce. It is an issue
that has to undergo a national debate. As you are
well aware, privacy protection vs. someone else's
right to know are debated daily and would exist even
if there were no internet. Everyone in the nation
has or should have an opinion about how much privacy
is enough and where to draw the line. IMHO there
should be a national referendum on this topic to
determine what, if any policy or law should be put
into effect.

That issue, however, has absolutely nothing to do with
secure transactions over the internet, or the break-ins
to individual PC owner's that threatens what could be
valuable assets on the PC.
