Jon: One of the positives that many of us seem to be missing here is that Qualcomm is on its way to a huge cash flow which will permit a very major expansion of the modest investments such as the Q has been making recently to:

expand the scope of CDMA (geographically and as competition for GSM and/or TDMA where there is little or none at present)

expand the uses of CDMA for data

support the wireless / internet nexus on both sides

introduce such new stuff as modems and PC cards in addition to handhelds of all types, laptops and many devices beyond what are called "phones"

experiment with movies, audio, photos, etc. using CDMA

etc.

In other words, Qualcomm will be able to act as a bank or financial source to advance the use of CDMA of all flavors worldwide and expand its pervasiveness in uses and areas well beyond the current base of CDMA voice.

Over the next couple of years this could be a major strength.

And the beauty of it is that Dr J has shown care in what he has chosen to maximize bang for the future of CDMA and the Q itself.

Best.
