Steven, There are "propagandists" on both sides, but the extreme left is infamous for it's brainwashing tactics. It's very sad that so many younger Americans (and some older ones) do not seem to know this anymore.
My experience with Cuba comes from knowing people who were actually born and raised there, and just regular people, not in movements of any kind. One guy went into great detail about what was required from him while he was a Cuban, and it generally jives with what some on the pro-Elian side (meaning those that want him to be as free as possible) have posted here. I have heard many stories over the years from Cubans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, South Americans, etc, etc, and have the "Hispanic culture" in my family, in three different "flavors". As for going to Cuba the way it is now, no thank you, just as I would not go to China or North Korea under current conditions. When I go to a country, I go where I want to go, not where I am allowed or told where to go. That should tell you something. Yogi
