I am perhaps less prepared than you to declare what the Cubans need or do not need. I remember when numerous authorities were declaring that the Philippines could only be run by a strongman, and that the successor to Marcos would inevitably be another dictator. I thought that myself at one time. I was wrong.

I do not know what the next step in Cuba's political evolution will be. I do think that it is important that it be taken by Cubans.

I agree that the next government of Cuba will probably be distasteful to the Miami Cubans. I do not think they will ever get their properties and privileges back. I certainly hope they don't.
