Chic,

I think the Democrats have historically mismanaged money.

Did you know that the US accumulated more debt in the first four years of the Reagan Administration than it did in the 200+ years prior to that? Reagan's budget director (David Stockman) warned Reagan that his tax cuts and increased spending plans would have this effect.

The problem would have been worse had the Democratic congress not cut back on Reagan's budgets. When the dust settled at the end of the Reagan administration, the national debt had increased by 300%.

Two figures in the 1990's were the driving force in Government that brought the budget back under control. Bill Clinton pushed through the 1993 deficit reduction act, and Newt Gingrich led the charge for spending cuts.

Clinton was fortunate that Congress did not let him pass the Health Care bill, as that would have exploded the deficit.

Gingrich was fortunate that Clinton did not let him pass his huge tax cuts, as that would have led to higher interest rates, and an explosion in the deficit.
