What's the Argentine debt up to now?

$ 23.63 Billion dollars In 1995 - 1999.

Apparently starting in 1995 to date, they have missed specific goals established in conjunction with the IMF

Interest charge has gone from 2.9 % of GDP to 9.7 % of GDP

Argentineans came out of the early 80's with inflation of 100 % (or more), per MONTH.

After that they have come up with plans that not necessarily were successful... so they are scared of and motivated NOT to return to those days of rampant inflation.

It is my guess that such is the reason they agreed to go into this parity system. But what they do not see is what they are doing to themselves with this Charade of peso/dollar parity. Yes it imposes discipline, but simply put, they do not have the infrastructure to afford a strong currency.

In addition, salaries are ridiculously low compared to what one needs to live here... I personally do not know how they make it.

I may be too pessimistic, (more of a realist), but I think we will witness some kind of fiasco...

Frankly I do not understand the mentality here either, I am caught in the middle of Anglo and Latin ideas, I would like to find some kind of balance, [I think it is called Nirvana], but I think I am dreaming.

We shall see.
