Did you catch Crichton and his publisher on CNBC talking about this Tuesday morning? God, they were awful. Wooden, boring, slow-witted...

I mean, not bad enough to cause a 15% plunge, but lousy tv...

Hi NY Stew,

Thank you for two good articles the past couple days, appreciated.

What did you make of this article?

I read it to mean at some point GMST and MSFT might actually be competetive in some fashion in the eBook market. I also read it to suggest GMST is MUCH better suited long-term both for publishers and users.

You gather a similar feeling? In particular, I'm wondering what your thoughts are concerning a potential head-to-head battle with MSFT. Is this not an issue, or if it is, do you see a GMST victory based on the competetive and security advantages of their technology, patents, and partnerships?

On the technical side, I can testify to the fact T/A is difficult to impossible to implement on GMST these days. About all I can offer for the potential trader is to carefully study Williams %R and MACD as the best potential indicators ... if you feel like stepping out on a limb.

Basically, use MACD to find an entry point at which momentum has bottomed (MACD crossover when both MACD & trigger are under the zero line), and buy/sell the short-term based on fast and sudden spikes to near zero and one hundred in Williams %R (indicating oversold and overbought conditions, respectively).

Momentum is near impossible to measure, accumulation/distribution is a little more manageable, but still for the trader, the basic skills of either being a soft-shoe tap dancer or iron-stomach sword swallower better run in the family, because trading GMST is a fast and furious endeavor.

I'm resigned to accumulating on MACD crossover, selling on the first Williams %R peak, buying on the subsequent Williams %R valley, and repeating as long as MACD is trending up or remains under the zero line.

I'm playing only change, this is not the stuff fortunes are made of, but rather it simply provides a unique opportunity to hone my skills, learn some valuable lessons, compare the results to a bullish market, and consume a little precious bandwidth in making these silly posts.

I called GMST IR today concerning the stock option plan, left a message, and did not receive a call back. I'd have preferred a response even if it was a simple "sorry, we cannot comment on that at this time". My interpretation is that the numbers are almost out, maybe the next day or two, people are busy and focused on the task at hand.

Now, I just wish I knew what those two senators were up to ...

Regards, JB

NY Stew,

I noticed a one-time charge of $1.9M for "defense against hostile takeover" in the earnings report.

Do you know if this was used to develop a long-term plan, or if it was a specific charge to protect the company against a specific takeover attempt (any info on the attempt if this is the case)?

I don't mind digging and posting the results if you are not aware of the specifics, thought I'd ask first though. As always thank you very much.

Regards, JB
