Well, wonk.. first things first. Good Luck with the arrival of the new member.

As for my assertions, they were based on several sources, although it wouldn't be the first time that a struck out due to hearsay. One, an interview I read recently which cited Nokia as doing multiple profiles within the same phone (if I can find it I'll post it here), and the other from an associate who is close to someone at another top wireless outfit. Also European, btw.

I'll take your lead on this, but it certainly seems feasible to me what with dsp's doing the things they do. As for the mfgr's, why would they do it? I suppose to a lesser extent some might ask why IP wireless phones would accommodate a half dozen or more compression algorithms in their codecs for VoIP.

As for the multi-genre capabilities I alluded to, maybe because the market's gotten saturated with the one of a kinds, and this represents an opportunity for some to break into a new niche? Perhaps there is a demand for such phones from a class of traveling users who will pay for it?

I don't know, nor do I necessarily believe it. Only speculating at this point. Thanks for your reply, and again, Best of Luck.
