You may be right about the long term, but for the simple
short term trader all that is required for today is to place
an "enter long order for MU" at 46 3/4 and take walk along that beautiful beach.

TriQuint to buy Texas wafer fab shell from Micron
Semiconductor Business News
(05/24/00, 05:57:05 PM EDT)
HILLSBORO, Ore. -- TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Micron Technology, Inc. to purchase Micron's Richardson, Tex., wafer fabrication facility and the surrounding 38-acre campus.

The facility is located four miles from TriQuint's existing Texas operations, which are housed in leased space at Texas Instruments Inc.'s Dallas campus. The Richardson fab is an empty shell that was originally built for a TI-Hitachi DRAM joint venture. The fab has 48,500 sq. ft. configured as Class 1 cleanroom; 10,000 sq. ft. configured as Class 100 cleanroom; and 80,000 sq. ft. configured as office space.

The deal will enable TriQuint to provide high volume 6-inch wafer manufacturing in both Oregon and Texas in 2001, said TriQuint CEO Steve Sharp, who noted that the purchase increases TriQuint total revenue capacity to well over $1 billion upon full equipment installation.

While the deal is still being negotiated, the transaction is expected to close within the next 90 days.
