Bert, In general productivity refers to automation in the work place and not how many widgets your guy can make with the same equipment as our guy, so it is artifical and has little do to with the workers zest etc, it refers to the amount of labor input per unit output.
One fine day we will have robot factories with zero workers.
Air, earth, fire and water = everything else for free?
Well not quite.
There are real barriers to college in europe. Just saying all those that want to go can go means nothing. Does that mean only 1/5th as many europeans want to go to college compared to Americans? Compare the stats of grads compared to the country size and 1/5 is a reasonable cross section. In Germany they have extensive on the job apprenticeship programs that take a large portion away from the college loop. Is it similar in other countries?
