I have no idea how many(if any) more interest rate hikes are necessary for "soft landing". There is much contradictory info out there. I believe that since inflation has not yet become imbedded in the system in terms of peoples expectations it will be controlled.
I do believe the presidential year scenario however and believe the June increase(if any) will be the last. I believe that Greenspan owes this to Clinton/Gore. And I do believe he feels he can control Dems proclivity to spend easier than Republicans proclivity for an inappropriately timed (although much overdue) tax cut which would be a certainty with a Republican congress and Pres.
