Heinz:

Ah yes, our dearly beloved Daniel is moving on.

I agree that he will probably provide the mandatory "initiate coverage with a buy recommendation" bit.

Do you recall Dan's little embarrassment of a year or so ago, wherein two of his dinner guests came close to initiating a punchup at the table? One of the combatants was non other than the esteemed CEO of MU. I wonder what he was doing at that little soiree? (g)

Best, Earlie

I concur and will close POS poots before he gets there. Do you know his official start date? I assume he was escorted out of his office the moment he made the announcement but may take a vacation to celebrate his big pay bump for jumping ship.

Remember he will also try and goose DELL, too. That is one of his other babies he is sort of in love with again.

A few more tid bits on POS. Did you see the comments by GTW's CFO the other day? He says things are sort of slow looking out over the next 6 months and doesn't think there will be any memory shortage. Could be partially company specific, and no doubt every anal will paint it that way, but it does make one wonder, especially when rising interest rates start to slow down box sales growth even more.

Then we have all these new non-existent fab plants and lines starting up and all these new orders going to the equipment makers. Well, I wish Dataquest could tell us why they see this huge memory chip shortage through 2002, which would mean POS will be in fat city, yet INTC and TXN are selling out their stakes now in POS? Who would you believe can see the future memory biz better? INTC and TXN or some pimp organization that gets paid by the chip makers to issue forecasts? -g-
