Thread,

Doubled my position in AMD at 72.

I am now in margin.

Hopefully sanity comes soon.

regards,

Kash

Good Morning Thread:

There has been some discussion on the funding of the new Flash memory joint venture with Fujitsu. A recent news item, see below the item referring to Fujitsu and AMD and an investment of $1.31 billion. Is there any additional info on AMD's share of this venture and its funding?

05/23 19:55 PRESS DIGEST - Asian Wall Street Journal - May 24

SINGAPORE, May 24 (Reuters) - The following stories were reported in
Wednesday's electronic version of The Asian Wall Street Journal:

* Korea's economy expanded by 12.8 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier,
stirring debate over whether the government should increase interest rates or
bolster the won to keep control of inflation pressures.

* Wahid's decision to back a debt-restructuring plan for petrochemical giant
Chandra Asri is being attacked by critics who say the agreement unfairly favours
Marubeni <8002.T> of Japan.

* Thailand's central bank will help pay the debts of a government bailout fund. The
pact will help ties with the Finance Ministry, analysts said.

* Jakarta ordered Freeport <FCX.N> to cut production at its Papua gold and copper
mine. The government's reaction to a fatal accident at the site may cut the U.S. firm's
source of revenue.

* Taiwan's industrial production dropped under expectations last month, but
economists say they are not concerned over the figures as export orders continued
to surge.

* Hong Kong's deflation rate slowed to 4.4 percent in April, but a weak housing
market and questions over future U.S. interest-rate policies make inflation's revival
uncertain.

* Fujitsu <6702.T> announced a pact with AMD <AMD.N> to build a factory in Japan
to boost production of flash-memory chips. The firm will invest $1.31 billion in the
plant.

* Foreign aid to Cambodia will hinge on good governance and improvement in the
country's legal system, said international donors before their annual pledging
session.

* Japan enacted new regulations mandating that financial institutions tell investors
of the risks linked with investing in financial products. (From Nikkei Net Interactive)

Alighieri, I agree, a little misreporting goes a long way in a down market.
