Cog I am sorry I missed your post, Iam no great fan of Gold.. for me the new commodity that is goign to dictate future is may be 'processing power' or broadband capacity' in face of intelligent revolution the glitter has los some shine, it is just another commodity and although a representative of 'wealth protection' its relative importance in face of rising productivity of nations output is declining, scarcity in 20th century or early part of this millineum had led 'gold' occupy the centre stage, as human mind has evolved the unsung hero of the present century is 'knowledge' and a nations ability to use it to maximise its potential, in knowledge based economy it is not scarcity of a product that brings economic value, it is the widespread nature of product to have a strangle even if it is given out free that creates new value, I.E is one example, it was distributed free but help create MSFT at one time the world largest cap...
