And? I live in a pretty cool world. I've got my troubles, but they are pretty tiny. My joys are pretty large. Anything I might fear would be a product of my imagination- I'm not in any danger. So what's not to be joyful about?

I have EXISTED. I've done it- no one can take that away from me. I was HERE (or at least I think I was here- which is good enough). So I'm happy.

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom because it is truthful to our situation. We depend on the continual will of God merely to stay in existence from moment to moment, and if we were to displease Him enough, we would cease to exist, without a trace. On the other hand, our radical dependency means that we are continual beneficiaries of His lovingkindness, insofar as it is His mercy alone which preserves us, His bounty that enriches us, His goodwill that succors us in time of need. Thus, the psalmist can say:"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want....."
