All very true.

I seem to remember from one of my psychology classes that knowing what other people are doing makes people more likely to follow. Hence polls help determine who will be president, realizing people are rushing for the exits makes you join the crush, and instantaneous communication about the stock market can increase its volatility.

I am in your camp when it comes to being awestruck by the changes going on. I do not doubt that money will come flooding back into the companies implementing these changes.
