It's not just the interest rates, high oil prices and increased costs stemming from both are bringing down corporate profits. By the time the impact is fully realized it will be like a truck on a long downhill run, midway on the hill the brakes are gone. Then it gets ugly.

Mephisto, you are right on but the pace of technological change and the benefits will be well beyond what you have outlined. There is now technology that enables each home to have the capacity that our entire country had 5 years ago. Bandwidth will be a non-issue. We will not have CD's, DVD's or VHS tapes or Blockbuster as everything will come over the net on demand. And if you want to carry that everything with you a single device will hold whatever. Truly revolutionary!
