alankeister: Sigh. For me, the question of what may permit Gemstar to enter a tornado or not is secondary, what matters is whether Gemstar is in the right technological field for major future growth.

Perhaps alone here, I consider the technology paramount, the company secondary.

My problem has nothing whatsoever to do with the competence of Gemstar's management or whether the company will do well within its limited field, it is whether the field itself is worth investing in. Its opportunity cost - what might be a better investment relatively. And I look at where the most rapid growth is likely - by technology. Done.
