Comparing the Vod UK prices to Australia's is interesting:

Today's press release indicated the equivalent of USD 1772 for the R290 and 1181 for the Telit phone.

In Australia, the "RRP" (recommended retail price?) is within 10% of these numbers, but you can get the phones as part of a service plan for as little as 1022USD and 418USD, respectively.

It's beyond my understanding why anyone would pay such a high premium for the Ericsson phone. Its specs make it seem only marginally more attractive.
