I don't have a problem with people wanting to plate their plumbing with gold. It's pretty.. corrosive resistant, and really pretentious.

And nothing would change about that were gold to drop to $100/ounce. People would still do.. and probably more would contemplate it.

Hardly the type of thing one would do with "money", is it?

And the fact that people like to plate things with gold is a great use for the metal. However, why should consumers pay an extraordinarily high price for this commodity, solely because the goldbugs are forcing the banks to hold their reserves?

There will alway's be a demand for gold jewelry. And that demand will only rise as the price declines.
