I think that our feelings have both components that correspond to reality, and components that don't. I think that the moral order, which I believe to be rational, if not precise, is reflected in our emotions, but that there is a visceral component that can run away with us. What babies feel is visceral, and useful for their needs, but not the higher order of emotion, which requires the rational ordering of experience.....
